Bruno Berner has been unveiled as the new manager of Swiss third-tier side, F.C. Tuggen.
Berner has signed a contract until the end of the 2016/2017 season and his first game in charge will be on Saturday, away to local rivals and promotion chasers Rapperswil-Jona. Seven days later, Bruno will face his first home game in charge, ironically against F.C. Basel’s second team, a club whose first-team he represented as a player between 2005 and 2007.
These two games are the final matches before the winter break, during which time Berner’s men will travel to Gran Canaria for one week’s warm weather training in the New Year, before the second half of the season restarts in early March.
Bruno will have his work cut out though, as F.C. Tuggen are bottom of the league and are five points adrift of safety at the halfway stage of the season, with 15 games remaining.
Speaking about his first management role in senior men’s football, Berner said: “I am very grateful to the Chairman for giving me this opportunity and it is a real privilege to be back in football. I realise that there is a great deal of hard work ahead, but I am optimistic and I look forward to working with my players.”
