After two successful previous appearances, on Monday 21st March Bruno Berner was once again a guest on Teleclub Sport 1’s Extratime, in his native Switzerland.
On the show, which was presented by Stephan Liniger, Bruno discussed a number of topics, including international matches, the Premier League and the Swiss Super League.
Talking about Switzerland’s national side, he gave his thoughts on Vladimir Petković’s decision to not select Gökhan Inler – who plays for one of Bruno’s former clubs Leicester City – for his latest squad.
Prior to this exclusion from the side Inler was the national captain, so Bruno also gave his thoughts on who should replace him in this position and why.
A key focus on the programme’s Premier League coverage was the recent Manchester derby. The possibility of Manchester City missing out on a Champions League spot next season was touched upon, while the impact of Guardiola’s appointment ahead of next season on the player’s mentality was also covered.
On the topic of the Swiss Super League, Bruno gave his thoughts on the race for Champions League qualification – noting Young Boys Bern’s fantastic form of late. At the other end of the table he was able to give his thoughts on FC Zürich, where he previously worked as a coach, and the side’s current battle against relegation.
In addition to this Bruno expressed his opinion on Grasshoppers Club Zürich, where he began his professional playing career, and its surprise defeat against FC Lugano. Alongside this, he assesses what the youthful side can learn from this loss.
