Off the back of his impressive guest-slot debut on Teleclub Sport 1’s Extratime in his native Switzerland, Bruno Berner returned for a second appearance, which aired on Monday 7th March.
The former Grasshopper Club Zurich defender, who enjoyed spells with FC Basel, Blackburn Rovers and Leicester City, in addition to earning 16 Swiss international caps, discussed a host of topics on Monday night’s show, hosted by Vania Spescha.
Among those topics, Berner discussed the latest news from the Swiss Super League, focusing on Markus Babbel’s run of six straight defeats in charge of FC Luzern, and the impact being made by Young Boys Bern striker, Guillaume Hoarau.
Bruno later gave his views on football matters across the globe, including his thoughts on the form of Swiss goalkeeper Roman Buerki, whose display for Borussia Dortmund against Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich helped guide his side to a valuable point in Der Klassiker, and has prompted questions as to whether he could challenge Switzerland’s first-choice stopper Yann Sommer for a starting place in this summer’s European Championships.
In the Premier League, Berner also discussed the North London derby between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, and what the game’s 2-2 draw meant for Bruno’s former club, Leicester City, who moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League table following a 1-0 win over Watford.
