Bruno Berner’s SC Kriens side have been crowned champions of Switzerland’s Promotion League, following a 2-1 victory on the road over La Chaux-de-Fonds – and will play their football in the second tier of Swiss football next term, the Swiss Challenge League.
The victory over La Chaux-de-Fonds put Kriens five points clear of second placed Stade Nyonnais, with just one game remaining this season.
Berner has overseen a remarkable second half to the league season at Kriens. Following fixtures resuming after the mid-season break, Kriens won just one of their first four matches. However, a 4-1 victory away to Cham kick-started a run of eight consecutive victories; including a 2-1 win away to league title challengers Stade Nyonnais.
Kriens have won the title in emphatic fashion too, scoring 24 goals during the eight-game winning run and conceding just five.
Berner and his SC Kriens side will complete their league season at home to Stade Lausanne-Ouchy on Saturday 26 May.
